The Group has been actively exploring a variety of opportunities for developing urban renewal projects across core districts of Hong Kong, with key focus on Grade A Commercial and Luxury Residential Projects. The Group vows to accommodate the needs of a diverse market and dynamic social policies, while maintaining a good balance between profitability, responsibility and sustainability.
Transform Industrial Units to Supreme Workshops
Definition of transformation 1: an act, process, or instance of transforming or being transformed 2: false hair worn especially by a woman to replace or supplement natural hair 3a(1): the operation of changing (as by rotation or mapping) one configuration or expression into another in accordance with a mathematical ruleespecially : a change of variables or coordinates in which a function of new variables or coordinates is substituted for each original variable or coordinate (2): the formula that effects a transformationb: FUNCTION sense 5ac: an operation that converts (as by insertion, deletion, or permutation) one grammatical string (such as a sentence) into anotheralso : a formal statement of such an operation 4: genetic modification of a bacterium by incorporation of free DNA from another bacterial cellalso : genetic modification of a cell by the uptake and incorporation of exogenous DNA
In Architecture, Transformation is defined as “The principle that an architectural concept, structure, or organisation can be altered through a series of discrete manipulations and permutations in response to a specific context or set of conditions without a loss of identity or concept.”
The principle of transformation allow an architect or designer to select a prototypical architecture model whose formal structural and ordering of elements might be appropriate and reasonable, and to transform it through series of discrete manipulations in order to respond to the specific conditions and context of the design.
Transformations are an act of transforming the figure, so its size, orientation, or location changes. Symmetry is visual balance in designs or shapes. The concepts learned in this unit are:
Symmetry
Rotation
Dilation
Reflection
Translation
Symmetry, as previously mentioned above, is visual balance in shapes or designs. Symmetry is a key element in Architecture because it helps the weight distribution of the structure. It is also used for designing, when making tessellations or patterns in the building.
Rotation is the act of rotating a figure around a point. It changes the orientation and location of the figure. Architecture uses rotations when trying to increase interest and ingenuity in the structure.
Dilation is the act of changing the size of a figure according to a scale factor around a point. It increases or decreases the figure. This is a key element in Architecture because it is hand in hand with proportions and when building the actual structure.
Reflection is when you flip the figure over a line. It changes the orientation and location of the figure. In Architecture, it is used to create symmetry, which ensures balance of the structure.
Refurbishment derives from the Latin words re (again) and furbish (to polish) and might describe a broad range of activities to improve current conditions of use or appearance, from deep cleaning or decoration to reconfiguration and replacement. In more formal terms the scope of interventions range from ‘improving environmental and operating costs’ to ‘repairwork, renovations and alterations, and the structuralrehabilitation’ of existing buildings [19]. These activities may be carried out in cycles as part of an ongoing management approach of developing, operating, maintaining, upgrading and disposing of assets, such as buildings (asset management). Increasingly, the term specifically covers additions which are made to improve energy or environmental performance (e.g. in-use energy efficiency and operating costs) of existing buildings [17]. However on the whole, refurbishment covers a wide range of interventions that aim to prolong the useful life of a building, which may include what might be considered aesthetic improvements, that often go beyond simple maintenance, repairwork, and alteration.
